My sister in-law Chelsea is an amazing cook. She majored in culinary arts in college. She has some great tricks up her sleeves. She taught me how to cut an onion really fast. I love it! I will show you how, too.
1. Cut an onion in half length-wise. Cut of on of the ends. Make sure you leave the root attached at one end. Then position it like the picture above and slice vertical slices, leaving the root attached. Your onion should look like the picture above.
2. Then slice horizontally as thick or thin as you want. The way the onion is layered will do most of the dicing for you will have a chopped onion in no time.
TIP: Chew gum while chopping onions to avoid tearing up.
I just read in a magazine that if you cut your onion in half and then stick it in your freezer for 10 minutes before you dice or slice the juices will not run and make you tear up!
