I have said it before, and I’ll say it again: I love Rice Krispie Treats! They are on my top 5 list of favorite foods (along with ice cream, cheesecake, sushi, and Philly cheese steak….oh, and gummy bears. I guess that make six, but I can’t decide which one to demote off my top 5 list).
One of my favorite things to do is take your average Rice Krispie Treat and tweak it a bit to make a new flavor or combination. In the past I’ve made Mint Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats and Caramel Vanilla Treats using different flavored marshmallows. I have also shaped the treats to fit the theme of the season or party, like in these basketball treats or these football treats.
I have been at it again, my friends. This week I will share with you all three new marshmallow treat creations. So be watching all week for my new and exciting marshmallow treat spin offs.
First “Treat” in the line up: Reese’s Puff’s Marshmallow Treats! I decided that you can probably use any kind of cereal and mix it with melted marshmallows and butter and the result would be heaven. So I took a trip down the cereal aisle for inspiration. Reese’s puffs were a must. I could just imagine smothering them with gooeyness and drizzling chocolate all over them.
Yum.
Ingredients:
- 1 bag mini marshmallow
- 10 oz. box Reese’s Puffs cereal
- 4 TBSP. butter
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 C. chocolate chips or chocolate for melting
Directions:
1. Slowly melt the butter in a large pot over low heat.
2. Once it is melted, add the marshmallows and slowly melt them, stirring occasionally.
3. While melting, spray a large bowl with cooking spray put the cereal into the bowl. Also spay a baking dish and set aside.
4. As soon as the marshmallows are all melted (don’t let them burn), quickly add the vanilla and stir to combine. Pour the marshmallow mixture over the cereal in the large bowl.
5. With a large spoon or spatula (spray with cooking oil), fold the cereal and marshmallows together until well combined.
6. Pour into the baking dish and pat down. Cover as tightly as possible and let rest and firm up.
7. Melt chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler. You only need a little bit though, so I thought the microwave was easier. Transfer chocolate to a sandwich baggie and snip off the corner. Squeeze chocolate out of the hole you just made to drizzle all over the treats. Let the chocolate harden. Slice and enjoy!

I've tried using lots of different cereals and the favorite so far is with Capt. Crunch! I love 'em with cinnamon crunch cereal too.
I remember your Capt. Crunch ones! They were the best! Cinnamon Toast Crunch treats sound awesome! I might have to do a Marshmallow Treats Week Part 2!
Oh snap, gonna try these
