I love Rice Krispie treats. They are probably my favorite dessert after cheesecake. I even had my wedding cake made from rice Krispie treats. They are also one of the easiest treats to make. Most of you probably already know how to make Rice Krispie treats, but you never know. Maybe some of you out there have never made these little beauties.
Lately I have noticed different varieties of marshmallows at the grocery store. There are gingerbread, chocolate, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla swirl, and caramel and vanilla swirl. I chose the last of this list to make a carmelly version of my favorite treat. Gingerbread flavored marshmallows would also be great for the holidays.
Ingredients:
- 3 TBSP. Butter
- 1 bag Caramel & Vanilla Swirlmallows
- 6 C. Rice Krispie cereal
- 1/2 C. chocolate chips, melted
Directions:
1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir around until melted and gooey.
2. Remove from heat and add the cereal. Stir until the cereal and marshmallows are well combined and mixed together. Pat into a 9×13 inch baking dish and let cool.
3. Melt the chocolate chips and transfer melted chocolate into a sandwich sized zip-top baggie. Cut the very tip of on of the bottom corners to create a very small opening. Squeeze to drizzle chocolate over the rice krispie treats. Cut into squares and serve.
These would also be a good addition to this, this, and this on a goodie gift plate for Christmas.
Tip: If you don’t have caramel marshmallows, just use regular marshmallows and add 1/2 C. brown sugar to the butter marshmallow mixture.

If you don't have any carmel marshmallows just add about 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the melted butter and plain mallows. We love krispie treats!
That is a great tip, grandma! I am going to go add that to the post. Thanks!
